A one-day summit on ‘Right to Information Laws and Data Journalism in Pakistan’ organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft fur International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Gmbh and Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie was held in Islamabad on August 16, 2017.
The event was aimed at exploring ways and means to deepen cooperation between government and media practitioners for effective implementation of rights to information laws, beside of promoting the culture of Data Journalism. Important figures from government circles, media and civil society attended the event, apart from international guests.

Guide for Journalists and Public
On this occasion, a special Handbook was launched for Public Information Officers (PIOs) that defines the roles and responsibilities of the head of a public body and provide guidelines on handling the information requests from journalists and general public. In addition to this, a best practices guidebook designed to introduce journalists to basic data journalism concepts and skills required to analyze data sets for telling stories was also presented.
